With Greene County's central location, easy half day or full day fishing opportunities are easy to come by.
The Moormans River can be accessed via Skyline Dr. in the Shenandoah National park or from route 614 in Albemarle County. Native brook trout can be found at the headwaters and some wild rainbow trout can be found in the lower section. The Moormans River flows into Sugar Hollow Reservoir. The reservoir is stocked with rainbow trout and brook trout; only bank fishing is allowed.
Smallmouth Bass Fishing can be found at the Shenandoah River - South Fork. Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries offers 14 different public access ramps between Port Republic and Front Royal for a great day of smallmouth bass fishing.
