South River Cottage has been lovingly renovated, expanded and refurbished and now includes a large sun porch with fabulous views all around! The expanded and updated kitchen includes granite counter tops, brand-new state of the art appliances including a stacked washer/dryer and a fully stocked coffee bar. The Cottage has 3 modern and comfortable bedrooms, (1 King, 1 Queen, 1 Bunk & 2 Queen sleep/sofas) and 2 full baths.

South River Guest House has been completely refurbished and modernized to provide guests with all of the comforts of home in a peaceful country setting. The Guest House is over 150 years old but it has been lovingly renovated to include a fully equipped kitchen with granite counter tops, DISH satellite TV, Wi-Fi, Jacuzzi tubs, washer/dryer, and a patio with a gas grill

Situated in the middle of a 125+ acre working cattle farm, the Farm at South River is centrally located halfway between Charlottesville, VA and Harrisonburg, VA and less than 2 hours from downtown Washington, DC and Richmond, VA.  

For guests looking for things to do, this area offers something for everybody-wineries, craft breweries, historic venues, ‘pick your own’ orchards, hiking, horseback riding, shopping, UVA, JMU, pottery shops, easy access to the Shenandoah National Park (less than 8 miles) and the list goes on . . . There is truly something for everyone!! 

Guests looking for a chance to sit, relax and “unplug” let the worries of everyday living fade away. Enjoy listening to the gentle mooing of the cows – or the clucking of the chickens. Watch the family of herons tend to their young or the resident ducks parade their latest family to the pond. You can fly fish in the South River (license required) which is stocked several times each year or just relax on a rock by the river.

In the unlikely event that you run out of things to do, we have Dish TV, Wi-Fi and the shelves are stocked with good old -fashioned board games.
